Mainfreight Adds To Their GDP Certified Global Network

What does this mean for Mainfreight and our customers? It is another link in the chain that allows Mainfreight to help the medical and pharmaceutical industry with their supply chain needs. GDP certification shows our customers that we are highly qualified to handle their freight and that we will provide quality service for our customers' commodities. GDP certification is very limited when it comes to other freight forwarding companies, and with locations in Europe, Asia, North America, Australia, and New Zealand, our global GDP network gives us an advantage against other freight forwarders.
With the current environment and ongoing global pandemic, being able to handle pharma shipments quickly and with care is a major advantage that will keep our customers happy and healthy. After much input from Mainfreight’s side of the certification process, we are happy to globally offer and initiate GDP certification within Mainfreight branches. Our global involvement with the distribution of pharmaceuticals and pharma related products is not simple and it requires a high level of knowledge and process quality that comes with GDP certification.
To gain GDP certification, branches must meet the World Health Organization’s standards for pharmaceutical cargo supply chains as well as safety and security. This includes:
- Several document, process, and procedure audits
- Two-day, onsite assessment
- Live product recall drill
- Examination of vendors and suppliers
- Physical inspections of containers and packaging, sanitary conditions, security, and temperature control variation
